Her work reflects a long-held conviction, embodied in the saying “treat a parent, save a child.” To date, Seleni has trained more than 7,500 mental health professionals in 30 countries, reached over 1.5 million people globally through education and advocacy, and provided clinical care to more than 5,000 patients.

Raised in London by her Greek father and Panamanian mother, Nitzia brings a global and culturally informed perspective to her work. She earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Brown University and a Master of Science in child development from the University of London. As an Honorary Associate Research Fellow at the Institute of Psychiatry in London, she conducted research on neurological changes associated with autism and co-authored several academic papers. She later earned a Master of Arts in Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness from NYU Steinhardt.

In 2025, Nitzia received an honorary doctorate from the Department of Early Childcare and Education at the University of West Attica in recognition of her contributions to women’s mental health and philanthropic work, becoming one of the youngest women in Greece to receive this honor.

A respected voice in women’s and family mental health, Nitzia has delivered keynote addresses at the White House Council on Women and Girls, the United States Capitol, and at universities, medical institutions, and professional organizations around the world.
