Isabella Cuellar, LMHC
Licensed Mental Health Counselor
Isabella works with individuals and couples who are looking to better understand themselves, strengthen their relationships, and find more ease in their day-to-day lives. She specifically works with clients navigating anxiety, depression, identity exploration, relationship challenges, LGBTQ+ concerns, and life transitions.
As a therapist, she values building trusting relationships and creating a supportive, non-judgmental therapeutic environment where individuals feel nurtured. She integrates different therapy styles to cultivate change within her clients, including a psychodynamic approach and evidence-based practices like DBT and CBT.
Isabella’s experiences as a special education teacher and outpatient psychiatric medical assistant drove her interest in trauma-informed counseling, advocating for client needs, and the importance of a multicultural approach to counseling. She believes in a holistic approach to wellness and implements her background as a certified yoga instructor, mindfulness/meditation teacher, and former athlete into her role as a counselor.
She holds a Master of Education in Mental Health Counseling and a Master of Arts in Psychological Counseling from Teachers College, Columbia University. During her graduate coursework, she received an Advanced Certificate in Sexuality, Women, and Gender where she focused on reproductive and maternal wellbeing.
Isabella has experience working in a college counseling center where she supported a diverse student population in managing stress, depression, interpersonal relationships, LGBTQ+ issues, and adjustment to college life. Isabella has additional experience working at a private practice where she works with couples and adults coping with life transitions, relationship conflict, anxiety, and mood disorders.
